Synopsis

Dorrith Sim’s autobiographical picture book about her journey from Kassel Germany to Edinburgh Scotland in July 1939, forms the basis of a unique and inspirational program that changes the way Holocaust education is being introduced in Australia and South Africa:

The In My Pocket project:

uses the narrative of the Kindertransport;

documents Dorrith’s life from her birth, and includes the legacy she left;

most relevant for upper primary school students;

a stepping stone suitable for 9 to 12 year olds; 

Engages children of all cultures and backgrounds;

has long term effects; 

creative and easy to implement!
